Her Many Faces

I met this little girl and was completely taken with her spunk, beauty and expressiveness! She was the perfect model for a little idea I had blossoming – a many faces photo collage. We had a blast shooting this (what kid doesn’t like to be free to make crazy faces?) and I can’t wait for the big print to arrive for her mama. If you are interested in adding on a “many faces” shoot to your session let me know!

Moody Blues

This shoot ended up happening way later in the day than planned (as often happens with kids!) and I was worried that the light would be a problem. I ended up loving the way this shoot came out, just a hair moody and really earthy and warm. Not sure I picked the best images here to show off the baby blues this boy has but they can light up a location on all their own!

Location, location, location

I recently took a class on creativity which encouraged us to get out and shoot in an “undesirable” location. My kids and I pulled over to an old run down building and had a little mini shoot. Can you tell who was being cooperative and cute that day and who wasn’t? Um, yeah. So this goes to prove, you don’t need a gorgeous field of flowers or a glowing sunset to capture really special moments with your family. I love these crazy little buggers!

The best of times…and the worst of times

This post is for all the mamas out there who stress out about their photo shoots not going perfectly. Piper from Coconut and Bean (awesome blog, please go read) is a good friend of mine so she said she was cool with me showing you some behind the scenes pics of our recent Valentine’s Day shoot with her girls. I thought this might give you a chuckle and show that not all shoots run like well oiled machines. Can I please add that I made the HUGE mistake of bringing my own kids to this session as well as shooting it while sick. Two things I learned very quickly don’t work! Please enjoy the following “outtakes” but don’t miss out on some of the winners we got towards the end.;)

I call these “the pass out”, “the silly faces”, “the you are crazy lady” alongside “the sister strangle” and the best one… “the seriously?’”

All kidding aside, I love these girls and despite the challenges we caught some sweet moments and had some serious giggles!

Joy

Hello friends! It’s been ages since I’ve been around here! I had yet another hard drive crash (please take a lesson from me and back up everything more than once!) and a crazy month of October filled with field trips, Halloween events and my girl turning 3. Since then it’s been a whirlwind of family photo sessions for the holiday season. I thought I’d share this precious cutie while I’m wrapping up my family session editing… it’s smiles like these that make the craziness all worth it!

Wanted: outlaw cowgirl

I had so much fun shooting this adorable little cowgirl in preparation for her 4th birthday party. I’ve never had a shoot where we worked so hard to get a child NOT to smile. Her mama wanted a fierce outlaw look for her invitation which was to be a wanted sign but this little cutie could barely contain her giggles. We finally put her sheriff sister on the job and she wrangled her in. I can’t wait shoot her party, it should be a blast!
