Location, location, location

I recently took a class on creativity which encouraged us to get out and shoot in an “undesirable” location. My kids and I pulled over to an old run down building and had a little mini shoot. Can you tell who was being cooperative and cute that day and who wasn’t? Um, yeah. So this goes to prove, you don’t need a gorgeous field of flowers or a glowing sunset to capture really special moments with your family. I love these crazy little buggers!

Nate’s first touchdown!

A sports photographer I am not and it was hard to keep shooting while cheering for my little man but I’m pretty excited to have captured his very first touch down! Go Nate go!! First game, first touch down… we are super proud of him!

Hanging on

Summer came and went in a blur this year.  It seemed to arrive late and now doesn’t want to give up and go away. Despite the Halloween decorations already up, the temps are lingering in the 100s. With school in full swing, we are missing the carefree days of water play, popsicles and especially this awesome water park!

This is 5

I posted recently about a few of the things I love about Mia at age 2. Since then I’ve been thinking about Nate and what he is like at this age…

Wild, crazy, hilarious, loud, silly, messy, awesome…this is 5.

Just the way you are…

Lately I have been lamenting the fact that I don’t have a great “professional looking” shot of my kids. I think they both have a case of PCS (photographer’s child syndrome) and either run away or give me cheesy fake smiles whenever the camera comes out. I realized that just as important as getting that beautiful frame-able shot, are the ones that capture the everyday. My babies are growing up fast and I don’t want to forget any of the little details. Like how Mia’s hair goes crazy after her nap…

Or how she still sleeps in a sleep sack at 2 1/2 (or how cute she looks in it)

Or her cute little puffy post-nap face and all her “friends” that she loves to snuggle and sleep with.

Or even the little baby books that make her smile and giggle. These are the moments I want to keep forever.

I don’t know where the last 5 years went or how Nate has grown up so much in that time.

He’s a lucky boy to have so many wonderful friends and an incredible family who loves him. As always around here, birthdays end up with multiple celebrations. The big one was a day in Newport with family, riding the ferris wheel, playing games, eating giant snow cones, opening awesome gifts and of course finishing the day off with a fabulous cake.

After donuts at school and a huge piece of cake with singing at our local breakfast joint, the final celebration was at Chuck E Cheese with friends.

We’re so proud of you Nate, you’ve come a long way this year and are such a little man now!
